About Case
Digest
Case Digest is a searchable database of previous recommendations and decisions
subsequent to
January 1, 1996,
issued by the King County Hearing Examiner. Case Digest was created by the
Hearing Examiner's Office to help citizens locate information related to topics
and issues discussed in past cases as an aid in preparing for upcoming cases
which will be heard by the Hearing Examiner.
Who should use Case
Digest?
Individuals with a pending matter before the Hearing Examiner may be interested
in reviewing prior Hearing Examiner reports on similar proposals or appeals as a
tool for predicting or advocating the outcome of a current matter.
Review prior cases
carefully
While predictability in the application of law, ordinances, and administrative
regulations is an important objective of King County, the factual circumstances
affecting matters considered by the Hearing Examiner are rarely identical.
Persons interested in analyzing the applicability of a prior decision or
recommendation to a current matter should thoroughly review the full report.
It is essential to
an understanding of any decision or recommendation to review carefully the facts
which the Examiner found and the conclusions that were derived. Additionally,
keep in mind that prior decisions and recommendations, although influential, are
not binding upon the County Council or Hearing Examiner.
