![]() Aug. 21, 2007 Poll results updateKing County Elections is processing returns from 407 polling locations as election day activities wind down. Voters in the earlier August primary overwhelmingly preferred to cast their vote by mail and election officials expect to receive 65,000 more ballots over the next few days. All valid ballots must be postmarked no later than today. "While we anticipated a lower turnout matching off-year voting trends, the earlier primary likely also impacted turnout. We expect increased turnout in future primaries when King County transitions to all-mail voting, a trend that has been realized across the state as counties have switched to vote by mail," said Director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services Division Sherril Huff. "Although it was a slow day at the polls, I want to again thank the 3,200 poll workers for their long day and hard work. They perform a critical function." King County tabulated all absentee and mail ballots ready for tabulation, 120,664 total, and will resume processing mail ballots tomorrow. The rate of mail ballots to date is approximately 86 percent of the absentee ballots received for the same time period in the September 2005 primary. Election results will be posted hourly this evening until 1 a.m. and every weekday at 4:30 p.m. at https://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200708/results.asp. The election will be certified on Sept. 5, 2007. |
