Ballot counting wraps ninth night

Sept. 28, 2006 – SEATTLE – Today King County Election staff counted an additional 3362 absentee ballots from the 2006 primary.

King County Elections will tabulate the remaining ballots tomorrow and will certify the election by approximately 4:30 p.m.

After the election has been certified, the Canvassing Board will announce any races which require mandatory machine or manual recounts. A recount for a ballot measure or issue can be made by a group of five or more registered voters one of whom must be designated group chairperson. Final results are expected to be posted by approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept.29, 2006.

To meet the statutory requirements regarding the canvassing of election ballots in the potential recount of the September 19, 2006 primary election (District Court – Northeast Electoral District).
