Ballot counting wraps eighth night

Sept. 27, 2006 – SEATTLE – Today King County Election staff counted an additional 5595 absentee ballots from the 2006 primary.

In accordance with state law, King County Elections is making one last attempt to remind voters whose signatures on their absentee ballots either doe not match their voter registration or whose ballot was not signed. King County Elections’ automated phone system will continue to call voters through Thursday afternoon, the day before certification of the primary.

Election results will be certified by approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 and the Canvassing Board will announce any races which require mandatory machine or manual recounts. A recount for a ballot measure or issue can be made by a group of five or more registered voters one of whom must be designated group chairperson.

King County staff will count ballots the rest of this week and post results online each night at 7 p.m. at https://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200609/results.asp.
