King County Local Voters Pamphlet

  I am proud of the work I am doing on your City Council. Just this year opening ceremonies have been held for Underwood Memorial Park, the new Activity Center, and a new soccer field. Highway 99 will soon be under construction with major improvements including additional lanes, sidewalks, traffic signals and amenities. I support the police department and have recently put in place new tools to help with drug enforcement at the hotels along the highway. Our efforts to stop the third runway will soon conclude with the last remaining lawsuits. Significant accomplishments have been made to protect our city with these efforts. I have had the privilege to serve in this position for 16 years, 6 as Mayor. When re-elected I will continue to strive to make our city a better place to live. Returning me to City Council will help to reestablish good government in Des Moines.

  I grew up in our Waterland community, attended Mt. Rainier High School and Highline College, went on to pursue a career and raise my family here. I have supported local activities including Jr. Football, Girl Scouts, and currently the Mt. Rainier Cheer Squad. I'm a member of the City's Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Planning Committee.

  Des Moines is a great place to live, but I'm embarrassed by recent infighting among council members, public bickering and lawsuits. They authorize major expenditures without a public vote. We need to eliminate hidden fees and overregulation that drives new business away and complicates our lives.

  It is time to replace council incumbents with competent citizens who can direct the development of a city in which we can all be proud. I'm a team player who is new to politics but I come with a background of sound judgment and experience in business management.
