2017 Comprehensive Plan & Vashon-Maury Island CSA Plan
On July 21, the King County Executive transmitted to the King County Council the proposed 2017 update to the Comprehensive Plan (Proposed Ordinance 2017-0317). This plan update is a limited, annual-cycle update and will be primarily focused on the review and adoption of the proposed Vashon-Maury Island CSA Plan. A CSA Plan is a 20-year, multi-discipline, integrated policy document that applies the countywide goals of the Comprehensive Plan to a smaller geographic area. Development of the Executive's proposed Vashon-Maury Island CSA Plan was informed by an intensive community outreach process that began in March 2016.
The proposed plan will be to be referred to the Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee for review over the next several months for potential amendment and recommendation, with final adoption by the full Council anticipated in December 2017. The Executive's proposal can be found on the Council's 2017 Comprehensive Plan website, which also includes the schedule, list of public comment opportunities, and other information related to the Council's review of the plan. This website will be periodically updated as new information and materials become available. News, schedule updates, and committee agendas related to the 2017 Comprehensive Plan will also be provided via this email list.
Written comments on the proposed plan are welcome at any time during the Council's review. Comments can be most easily be submitted from the home page of the Council's 2017 Comprehensive Plan website by clicking on the "Submit online public testimony" button or by emailing CouncilCompPlan@kingcounty.gov.
The Council looks forward to your involvement in the review of the proposed 2017 Comprehensive Plan update and Vashon-Maury Island CSA Plan. If you have questions about the Council's process, please email CouncilCompPlan@kingcounty.gov.
