Partnership in Democracy poll workers

video

Participants in the Partnership in Democracy poll workers talk about their experiences on election day.

Election day stories: A family affair

At a Bellevue polling place, Raj Biyani introduces himself, his wife Aarti and mother in law Kamala Bagri. Raj is at the polling place for the second time. He voted earlier today for the first time in a US election and wanted to show his family the U.S. elections process.

Aarti explained election days in India are national holidays because the lines to vote are so long. Their three month old slept peacefully through the tour and the talk.

Polls close at 8 p.m.

At Renton City Hall, ten voters entered the polling place before 8 p.m. and were able to cast their vote after the polling site closed. Daneca is a second time poll worker, her first election was the primary in August and though she doesn't turn 18 until next month, she still wanted to be part of the process. She was thrilled to watch happy voters casting their ballots again.

Poll workers were stunned at the high turnout in Renton and thrilled to be busy all day helping voters.
