Take it Back Network
What is the Take it Back Network?
The Take it Back Network is a group of retailers, repair shops, non-profit organizations, waste haulers and recyclers that offer convenient options for recycling certain wastes that should not be disposed in the trash.
Take it Back Network locations will recycle various products such as electronics, including TVs, computers and cell phones and fluorescent light bulbs and tubes. The Network was developed to provide consumers with safe and convenient reuse and recycling options for products that contain toxic or hazardous materials. By reusing and recycling these products properly, we can save resources and reduce the amount of harmful contaminants that enter the environment.
More products will be added to the Take it Back network soon! Click below to find a complete list of Take it Back Network members in your county:

Why Recycle?
Electronic devices such as computer monitors and TVs contain hazardous materials that must be managed properly. Picture tubes, or cathode ray tubes (CRTs), are made with three to eight pounds of the heavy metal lead.Circuit boards also contain lead in addition to cadmium, mercury and other hazardous materials. Fluorescent bulbs and tubes also contain small amounts of mercury. These metals can cause damage to living organisms at very low concentrations and tend to accumulate in the food chain.
Once these products wear out or are no longer needed, they must be handled properly according to local, state and federal regulations.
As of October 1, 2005, King County joins the City of Seattle and Snohomish County in prohibiting computers, monitors, TVs , cell phones, fluorescent tubes and bulbs and other mercury-containing products from the garbage and transfer stations. Visit King County's Waste Acceptance Policy for additional details on what items are not accepted at King County transfer stations.
