Master Recycler Composter
King County’s Master Recycler Composter (MRC) program is a community education program that focuses on resource conservation and waste reduction. King County is dedicated to reducing the amount of garbage generated in the county and encouraging waste reduction and recycling to the greatest extent possible. Education efforts such as the MRC program play an important role in helping citizens reduce waste. Residents in King County outside of Seattle are eligible for this program. Participants receive free training on the subjects of waste prevention, recycling, home composting, and alternatives to household hazardous wastes. The next MRC training is tentatively planned for early 2011. In return for the training, MRC volunteers agree to share their knowledge and skills through various community outreach efforts. MRCs use personal interaction and practical “how–to” information to educate citizens and motivate them to action.
