Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • The school began to recycle bottles and cans in the cafeteria and kitchen.
  • All classrooms, offices and the cafeteria have recycling containers. Stickers listing what can and can’t be recycled are on each recycling container.
  • The school held a Green Week in which morning announcements and posters were used to promote recycling and provide recycling facts.
  • Student Green Team members created posters and fliers to publicize Green Week.
  • Tips about recycling were shared on the school’s daily news broadcast.
  • Student Green Team members created a video about recycling which was played during lunch in the cafeteria.
  • To promote Earth Day, many students and staff wore green and the City of Bellevue sponsored a recycling information booth during lunch. A raffle was held for students that recycled. Winners received City of Bellevue mugs and pencils made of recycled material.
  • Student Green Team and student leadership members received t-shirts with a recycling logo created by the team.
  • To reduce unwanted mail in the office, staff set up a box for unwanted mail and asked to be removed from these mailing lists.
