Litter Reduction

Litter Reduction

The purpose of the litter reduction category is to help schools increase awareness that littering harms the environment and our quality of life and that each person can make a difference in reducing littering. Schools have decreased litter on school campuses by using a variety of targeted approaches.

Schools and school districts may select litter reduction as an optional category in the Green Schools Program. Students and staff can reduce litter by following the ideas and tips listed in the litter reduction criteria.  There is one set of criteria for schools and another for school districts.
