Litter Reduction

Litter Reduction

The purpose of the litter reduction category is to help schools increase awareness that littering harms the environment and that each person can make a difference in reducing litter. Schools decrease litter on school campuses by using a variety of targeted approaches.

If your school is working on Level Four of the King County Green Schools Program, see Level Four Sustaining Green School for the steps to recognition. One requirement for Level Four recognition is to complete an additional action or educational strategy each year – and to do that, your school may select any action from the Litter Reduction Best Practices Guide.
