Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Endeavour Elementary increased its recycling rate from 33 percent to 39 percent through a dedication to recycling throughout the school and the implementation of a new food scrap recycling program in the lunchroom.
  • Student “waste watchers” monitor lunchroom recycling and compost containers to ensure proper recycling and waste disposal.
  • Each student in Ms. Ralph’s class has adopted another classroom in the school and frequently provides the adopted class with reuse and recycling information, while monitoring and encouraging classroom efforts.
  • The school reduced paper use through electronic newsletters and fliers.
  • The school, along with all schools in the Issaquah School District, has eliminated use of straws during lunch.
