Waste Reduction and Recycling
- The cafeteria, all classrooms and all offices now have recycling containers.
- Students made videos and a Web site to promote the Chinook Green Team and conservation activities: www.greenteam-cms.webs.com (external).
- The Chinook Green Team held a recycling promotion called “Green Week.” Each morning during the event, students made bulletin announcements to provide facts to students and staff about how recycling saves energy and resources. Using the back side of old posters, the Green Team members also created and distributed posters to promote recycling.
- Team members gave stickers at lunch to students who brought their lunch in reusable containers or were seen recycling properly. The stickers promoted recycling and the Green Team.
- To reduce paper use, the teacher handout and the parent newsletter are now available electronically, and the weekly staff update is sent via e-mail.
