Commercial Green Building Incentives

LEED® Grants

The King County LEED Grants Program provides funding to projects built in King County – outside of the City of Seattle – that meet stringent criteria for resource conservation, and help educate the public about the importance of green building. Public, private, and not-for-profit organizations seeking LEED certification for building projects are eligible and encouraged to apply.

For 2009, up to five grants will be awarded -- up to $25,000 for LEED Gold certified projects and up to $35,000 for LEED Platinum certified projects. Special consideration will be given to projects incorporating low-impact development (LID) strategies, and to projects pursuing LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) and LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EB:O&M) certification.

King County LEED Grants are funded through the Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP). King County-funded projects are not eligible to apply.

Application Deadline

The application period for the 2009 King County LEED Grants Program is open July 1 to September 30, 2009.

Grant Awards

Grant applications will be reviewed and evaluated on a competitive basis. Award amounts are based on anticipated LEED certification levels and project review by the Grants Evaluation Committee. A preliminary LEED scorecard must be submitted with the application. Award disbursements are in two parts – half during Design Development, and half at verification of LEED certification.
