Environmental
Review of the Project
The State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) requires state and local agencies to
consider the likely environmental consequences of a proposal before approving
or denying the proposal. The Solid Waste Division completed an environmental
review of the project's potential environmental impacts, which included a public

Checklist and Determination of Non-Significance
The Solid Waste Division completed the Environmental
Checklist (PDF,
3.0 MB – Note: this is a very large file and may take several minutes to download, depending on connection speed) and made a SEPA determination that the safety and mitigation projects proposed for the Houghton station will not have significant environmental impacts. Construction
From August 2, 2010 until January 24, 2011, the Houghton Transfer Station is CLOSED on weekdays to all customers except King County Solid Waste Division Account Holders (customers who have posted a bond and are billed by the Solid Waste Division). The station is open on weekends, but operating at limited capacity – expect delays and use caution! Recycling services are closed on weekdays, but open on weekends. Other disposal options are available. |
