King County Construction, Demolition and Landclearing Contracts for Waste Handling ServicesExtensions to the King County Construction, Demolition & Landclearing (CDL) contracts with Waste Management, Inc. and Allied/Regional Disposal Company were signed by King County Executive Ron Sims on September 14, 2004. These contracts are now in effect. The extensions provide CDL handling services and offer significant incentives for recycling CDL materials over the next 10 years. The purpose of these contracts is to provide for the continuous, uninterrupted management of CDL waste generated within King County's jurisdiction. Recycling of CDL should have little or no adverse effect on the environment while being offered at competitive and fair rates to both public and private users, including those in the construction industry. These contracts encourage the recycling of CDL waste by creating incentives for contractors who maximize CDL waste recycling. Some highlights of these contracts include:
