King County restores recycling services at two rural solid waste facilities

Feb. 9, 2012

King County is restoring recycling service at its Enumclaw and Cedar Falls solid waste facilities on Saturday, Feb. 11. The two facilities are in rural areas of the County where residential sign-up for curbside garbage and recycling collection has lagged. Recycling services were removed from five SWD locations across the County on Feb. 1 because 99 percent of residents in those areas have access to curbside recycling service through their garbage hauler. King County operates multiple facilities for the disposal or recycling of solid waste and household hazardous waste.

King County Transfer Stations

The Solid Waste Division (SWD) operates eight transfer stations and two drop boxes in King County. These facilities accept municipal solid waste from residents and businesses. Limited recycling services are available for residential customers.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities

SWD operates one mobile and one fixed household hazardous waste facility. Residents can bring their leftover pesticides, batteries, thinners and solvents and other household hazardous wastes for proper disposal.

Cedar Hills Regional Landfill

The Cedar Hills Regional Landfill is closed to the general public. Waste collected at the transfer stations is transported to the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill for disposal.
