Brownfields - King County Solid Waste Division Brownfields – King County Solid Waste Division

Contaminated sites can harm the environment, contribute to blight and hinder economic development. A Brownfield site is defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as "real property, the expansion, redevelopment or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant."

The King County Brownfields Program provides assistance to qualified private individuals and businesses, nonprofit organizations, and municipalities within King County to assess and clean up contaminated sites, or Brownfields.
