Whether it is maintaining roads and bridges, providing flood protection, preserving farms from development or working on regulations to allow home businesses to thrive, King County is working to protect rural quality of life and provide the services people need and want.

Prepare for the rainy season at a Farm Flood Workshop

Agricultural landowners in the Snoqualmie Valley, take note! The King County Agriculture Commission and the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) Agriculture Permit Team will offer a workshop on Tuesday, October 28, from 7 to 10 p.m. (Open House from 6 to 7 p.m.) at the Sno-Valley Senior Center, 4610 Stephens Avenue in Carnation. The workshop will cover flood preparedness and flood recovery, actions allowed during an emergency and how to meet permit requirements afterwards. Attendees will also learn about new floodplain regulations for agricultural structures, floodway and floodplain mapping, flood warning systems, floodplain management and health and food safety issues.
