Labor Day & Bumbershoot bus service

On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, Metro Transit will operate with a Sunday schedule. The one exception is the Elliott Bay Water Taxi, which will operate on a Saturday schedule while the companion Water Taxi Land Shuttle operates on a weekend schedule.

The Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel, the Customer Service Office, Westlake Customer Stop, Metro Exchange Building and King Street Center offices will be closed on Labor Day. Metro's Pony Express to Emerald Downs is in operation.

Metro will also be providing both regular and special service to Bumbershoot over the Labor Day Weekend. The festival begins Friday, Sept. 2 and regular Metro service to the Seattle Center is a great way to beat the crowds and high price of parking. Use the online Trip Planner to find the best route to the festival.

Then, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday Metro will be providing shuttle service from the Northgate Park-and-Ride and the Northgate Transit Center for $2 each way. The shuttles leave every 20 minutes and make limited stops on Aurora Avenue North along the way. The service runs from 10 a.m. to approximately 11:30 p.m. Check out Metro Online for all the details.

Don’t be stuck in traffic when Huskies kick off season at Qwest Field

Photo: Huskie logoThe University of Washington Huskies – under new Head Coach Tyrone Willingham – meet Air Force at Qwest Field, Saturday, Sept. 3 at 12:30 p.m. for the college football season opener.

Metro and Bob Walsh Enterprises are providing special shuttle service for this game from five area park and ride lots to Qwest Field. For only $3 each way, eliminate driving and parking hassles.

The shuttles will run between Qwest Field and the following park-and-ride lots: Federal Way; Kent; Eastgate; South Kirkland; and the Northgate Transit Center. Shuttles begin boarding about two hours prior to kickoff, and leave every 20 minutes, or when they are full. The last Husky Special leaves the park-and-ride 45 to 60 minutes prior to kickoff.

Check out Metro Online for details, and visit the online Trip Planner for all your regular route options to travel to and from Qwest Field.

Work begins at Novelty Hill Road intersection

Work will begin Monday, Aug. 29 to widen the intersection of Novelty Hill Road and West Snoqualmie Road southwest of Duvall. Private utility work will take place first, followed by crews working on signalizing the intersection and adding a southbound right-turn pocket.
The roadway will remain open during construction, but there will be intermittent lane closures on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The project is expected to last six to eight weeks.
