Project description

The S. 277th Street project includes design and installation of ITS improvements that include signal interconnect and remote operation and monitoring capability, signal controller and cabinet change, cameras, real time data collection stations, road surface monitoring and a variable message sign to advise motorists of variable traffic conditions.

Why is King County doing this project?

This corridor is a major east-west corridor connecting I-5 with the Kent and Auburn Urban Centers that is projected to be highly congested in the future. The project will improve traffic flow through the corridor with remote operation and monitoring of the traffic signals. The project also provides information to the traveling public via cameras posted to the internet and a roadside message sign.
