Text transcript from video report on the new road
network on the Sammamish Plateau.
Narrator: All three legs of the Sammamish Plateau Access road are now open, providing residents of the area with additional access to I-90 at the new Sunset Interchange, A new planned development at Issaquah Highlands and traffic relief options via the new Highlands Drive. It was a unique public and private collaboration involving the Washington State Department of Transportation, King County Department of Transportation, Sound Transit, the City of Issaquah and Port Blakely Communities that made this project work. Ron Sims: All of the staff thought outside of the box with one goal, to get the work done so I just can’t thank the staff and their professionalism enough. Narrator: The new interchange is linked to communities on the Sammamish Plateau, North Issaquah and Issaquah Highlands by Highlands Drive. In addition to the multi-lane roadway, there are sidewalks, a bike path, and a temporary park-and-ride lot. Sound Transit will be extending regional bus service to that lot and King County Metro Transit plans to build a permanent park-and-ride garage on this site on Highlands Drive. » Return to Inside Transportation |
