New location for Metro’s downtown pass sales office

Transit passengers who buy bus passes and tickets at the Westlake Customer Stop on the mezzanine level of the downtown bus tunnel will soon have a new location for their transactions.

The Westlake Customer Stop will close at the end of the business day on Wednesday, Sept. 14. It will reopen at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 in a storefront location on a retail concourse inside Rainier Square.

The new “Transportation Connection” can be entered from the Fourth Avenue side of Rainier Square, between University and Union streets. It will sell passes and ticket books, plus offer timetables and brochures for Metro Transit, Community Transit, Pierce Transit, and Sound Transit. Its hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The current location inside the Westlake mezzanine of the bus tunnel must close, because the bus tunnel is closing for up to two years on Saturday, Sept. 24. During the closure, the tunnel will be retrofitted for use by both buses and light rail. The closure will change the downtown routing for more than 70 Metro and Sound Transit routes, affecting nearly 100,000 bus riders.

For more information on the transit changes related to the bus tunnel closure, visit Metro Online. There is also project information and other links at www.seattletunnel.org.
