Parking changes coming to White Center

Changes are coming for street parking in White Center, due to a high accident rate near the intersection of 16th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Roxbury Street.

This area is in unincorporated King County, but it is highly commercialized. The King County Roads Division is planning to change how vehicles park along 16th Avenue Southwest in the two blocks between Roxbury Street and Southwest 100th Street.

There will be little or no change in the number of parking spaces, but the county will realign them and require drivers to back in instead of driving in frontward. This will allow drivers to see traffic more clearly when leaving the parking spaces.

Realigning the parking spaces should take only a few hours, so the county expects disruption of parking to be limited to one day. The work is scheduled for September in conjunction with another road project being done in the area.
