News from King County Transportation Release date: June 9, 2005 Bridge project to close Kelly Road for four months The King County Road Services Division is replacing the deteriorating Harris Creek Bridge on Kelly Road Northeast near Duvall. The section of Kelly Road immediately east of the intersection with Big Rock Road will be closed on Monday, June 13 for up to four months while the bridge is replaced. Motorists can detour via 322nd Avenue Northeast, Northeast 139th Street, Odell Road, and Big Rock Road. The county will also be making improvements to the intersection of Kelly Road and Big Rock Road this summer to improve safety and visibility for drivers traveling in all directions. The intersection work will reduce traffic to one lane at times. Replacing the bridge is necessary due to structural problems, including rotting timbers and rusting support beams. For more information and detour routes, visit the project website. Local residents should also be aware that the city of Duvall has scheduled an improvement project for Big Rock Road that will begin in July. The city's project is located northeast of the county's project, and a detour is available via Batten Road.
