King County considers raising speed limit on a section of Northeast 133rd Street east of Redmond

The King County Road Services Division will hold a public hearing Friday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. in downtown Seattle to hear and record comments on a proposal to raise the speed limit on a one-mile stretch of Northeast 133rd Street, east of Redmond.

The division is considering raising the speed limit from 25 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour on Northeast 133rd Street between 218th Avenue Northeast and 232nd Avenue Northeast. A traffic analysis was performed after roadway safety improvements were completed last summer. After reviewing the results of the traffic analysis, King County found the current speed limit to be inconsistent with the area’s neighborhood character.

The hearing will be held in Room 2A of the King Street Center, which is located at 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle.

Written comments will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 11, and should be sent to Scott Sawhill, 201 S. Jackson St., MS: KSC-TR-0222, Seattle, WA, 98104-3856. Comments can also be faxed to (206) 296-0176, or emailed to: scott.sawhill@metrokc.gov. For more information, call the Traffic Engineering Section at (206) 263-6134.
