Bus service adjusted for two-day
observance of Independence Day

Metro Transit routes will be operating on a Sunday schedule both Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5. That means many commuter bus routes will not be operating on July 5. Passengers should be sure to check the schedule for their individual routes in advance of the long holiday weekend.

On Sunday, July 4 there will be extra trips on the George Benson Waterfront Streetcar to accommodate the crowds attending the holiday festivities on the Seattle waterfront. The Benson Streetcar is free all day on Sunday. Regular fares apply on July 5.

The Elliott Bay Water Taxi between Seattle and West Seattle will operate on a Saturday schedule on July 4, and on a weekday schedule on July 5. Extra sailings will be available as necessary after 11 p.m. on Sunday to accommodate attendees of the fireworks show. The Water Taxi will be free after 7 p.m. on July 4. Regular fares will apply at all other times and on July 5. The Water Taxi land shuttle (Route 773) operates with weekend service on July 4 and regular weekday service on July 5.

There will also be free Metro shuttles to and from the Woodinville fireworks celebration from 6 p.m. to midnight. The service will operate between the fireworks viewing area at J.B. Instant Lawn and shuttle stops at: Woodinville Park-and-Ride; Brickyard Park-and-Ride; Woodmoor Elementary School; and Northshore Junior High.

The ACCESS Transportation call center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 4 and July 5, and ACCESS will operate a Sunday schedule and service areas on both days. Except for dialysis and life-sustaining medical trips, all subscription service is canceled. Riders who still need a subscription ride for Independence Day or the day after, should contact the call center by 5 p.m. on the previous day at (206) 205-5000 (TTY users call (206) 749-4286). Regular fares are in effect on ACCESS Transportation on all days.

Sunday fares are in effect on all Metro routes on July 4 and 5. Regional Day passes – good for unlimited riding on a Saturday, Sunday or holidays with Sunday service – are available from drivers for $2.50. Metro's Family Fare allows up to four children age 17 and under to ride free with a fare-paying adult on Sundays and holidays when Metro operates Sunday service.

Metro's Visitor Pass, valid for any one day of unlimited travel on all regular and special event Metro service, is available at Metro Customer Service offices, Metro Pass Sales online and mail order, or by phone at (206) 624-PASS. The Visitor Pass is not sold onboard vehicles.

The Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel, Metro Lost & Found, Metro Customer Assistance, and other Metro and King County administrative offices will be closed on Sunday, July 4, and in observance of the holiday on Monday, July 5.

Metro’s Rider Information Office will be open for regular Sunday operation – 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, but will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Monday, July 5. When the Rider Information Office is closed, most transit information is available on Metro’s website, or in the online Trip Planner.

For complete information about all regular and special service on July 4th and 5th, log on to Metro Online, or call (206) 553-3000 voice or (206) 684-1739 for TTY/TDD.
