Tolt Bridge to close for bridge deck repairs

The Tolt Bridge on Tolt Hill Road, west of Carnation, will be closed from Tuesday, July 22 at 7 a.m. to Saturday, July 26 at 5 p.m.

During that time, the King County Department of Transportation Road Services Division will be repairing the bridge deck. The posted detour will be via State Route 202 to Fall City and then to Carnation on State Route 203; but several other local routes are also available.

Although the county plans to replace and realign the 81-year-old Tolt Bridge in 2004, the existing bridge must be maintained until that project is complete. The project beginning July 22 involves replacing sections of the bridge deck that have deteriorated with new corrugated steel panels. The bridge deck will then be repaved with asphalt.

More information about the replacement project are available online; or by calling Marnie McGrath, DOT community relations, at 206-684-1154 (206-684-1682 TTY).
