The King County Road Services Division will host an open-house meeting to
update the community on plans to rehabilitate the Meadowbrook Bridge. The
82-year-old bridge spans the Snoqualmie River on Meadowbrook Way at the north
edge of the city of Snoqulamie.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, July 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Mt.
Si High School, 8651 Meadowbrook Way SE, Snoqualmie.
The project will involve extensive redesign and rehabilitation of the
bridge, and include converting it from a narrow two-lane bridge to a one-lane
bridge with traffic controls at each end.
The county plans to replace Meadowbrook's timber approach trestles, truss
deck and subfloor. The conversion will allow Road Services to remove load
restrictions and provide wider shoulders, a wider traffic lane, improved
sightlines, overhead clearance, flood clearance, and better overall safety. The
project also calls for improving the walkway, overhead truss, bridge deck and
drainage.
Construction for this project is not scheduled to begin until 2005, but the
county has held multiple meetings with the public to develop the preliminary
project plans. At the July 15 meeting, exhibits and handouts will be available,
and project team members will be on hand to answer any questions from the
public.
