Ames Lake Trestle to be closed for six weeks

The Ames Lake Trestle on the Ames Lake-Carnation Road will be closed to traffic from Monday, May 19 at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, July 2.

During that time, the King County Department of Transportation Road Services Division will be substantially upgrading the trestle. The renovated trestle will have a new metal guardrail and a deck paved with a four-inch layer of asphalt concrete pavement. Plus, the entire structure will be brought up to current safety standards.

The trestle is located immediately south of the intersection of Ames Lake-Carnation Road and West Snoqualmie Valley Road NE. Most motorists can detour using Novelty Hill Road to the north of the trestle and Tolt Hill Road to the south; but there are a variety of detour options. Detour signs will be posted on the roads in the vicinity of the trestle.

More information and maps of the project area are available online, or by calling Barbara de Michele, DOT community relations, at 206-263-3792 (206-684-1682 TTY).
