Quartermaster Drive on Vashon
to close for seawall repairs

The King County Road Services Division will close a section of Quartermaster Drive on Vashon Island for three weeks to repair the adjacent seawall. The roadway will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. Monday, May 12 to 8 a.m. Monday, June 2 between Monument Drive and Portage Way.

During the closure, the road will be open to local residents and emergency vehicles only. Other motorists should avoid the closure area by detouring via Dockton Road Southwest and Ellisport Road. The detour route will be clearly marked.

The seawall has suffered storm damage along that stretch of Quartermaster Drive, and the county will be rebuilding and repairing approximately 300 feet of the seawall during the closure. Temporary repairs were made in March, and crews will now complete the permanent project.
