Metro exploring more changes for Route 48
King County Metro Transit is looking at ways to increase the speed and
reliability of
Route 48
as it travels from Rainier Beach to Ballard.
Metro is proposing to consolidate a number of bus stops that are too closely
spaced as a way of improving bus travel times. A similar consolidation project
has just been completed on the portion of Route 48 south of the Montlake
Bridge. Now, Metro is ready to start the public process on a proposed
consolidation plan for the segment of Route 48 between the University District
and the Loyal Heights neighborhood.
Information about the consolidation proposal will be posted at all affected
bus stops between May 7 and June 2. During this period, Metro staff will be
available to meet with interested community groups to provide more information
about the proposal.
The public can also ask questions or make comments on the proposal by:
- Call (206) 553-3060, or (206) 684-2029 TTY
- Write : Metro Customer Service Office

There is a project website on Metro
Online at , under "Route
48 Corridor Speed and Reliability Improvement." It contains background
information, maps, and details about proposed bus stop changes. This site will
be updated as the project progresses.
When the bus stop consolidation work is completed, Metro will be working
with the city of Seattle on other
improvements, such as transit signal priority, signal timing improvements, and
other bus zone improvements.
