view of 124th Avenue Northeast of KirklandThe King County Department of Transportation will host an open house to gather comments on initial project designs for improvements along 124th Avenue NE north of the Kirkland city limits. The improvements will be constructed between NE 132nd Street and NE 146th Place.

The open house will be held:

14111 132nd Avenue NE, Kirkland

King County's Road Services Division is proposing to construct a continuous two-way left turn lane, bicycle lanes, curbs, sidewalks, drainage systems and a water quality facility along this stretch of road.

The improvements will improve traffic flow, increase roadway and pedestrian safety and will bring the sidewalk into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

The project is currently in the intermediate design phase. At the open house, the public is invited to review and comment on the initial project designs. The project is scheduled for construction in summer 2003 and has an estimated total cost of $5.1 million.

For more information about the open house, or accommodations for people with disabilities, e-mail Patrick Duhon or call him at (206) 263-3424.  And visit  our 124th Avenue NE Roadway Safety Improvements Project Web site.
