The King County Department of Transportation will host an open house to
gather comments on the initial plan for replacing the Edgewick Bridge, which
crosses the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River on 468th Avenue SE, south of
I-90.
The open house will be held:
Thursday, April 18, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Camp Waskowitz Barn Meeting Room
45505 SE 150th Street, just southeast of North Bend
The Edgewick Bridge, originally constructed in 1920 and moved to its current
location in 1951, has been showing signs of deterioration in recent years. Due
to its narrowness and inability to carry heavy trucks, the bridge has now
become obsolete. The bridge also has a sub-standard alignment that limits sight
distance.
Due to its age and structural deficiencies, the Department of Transportation
is proposing to remove the existing bridge and its approaches and construct a
replacement structure.
The project is currently in the design phase. At the open house, the public
is invited to review and comment on the initial plan. The project is scheduled
for construction in 2004 and has an estimated total cost of $6.4 million.
