News ReleaseRelease date: Feb. 26, 2002Metro transports soccer fans to international matchThe U.S. Men's National Soccer Team will take on the team from Honduras at Safeco Field on Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m. The game is an important step on the road to the World Cup. More than 21,000 tickets have already been sold for Saturday’s match, so soccer fans may want to consider taking public transportation to and from the field. Besides all the regularly scheduled transit service available to Safeco Field, King County Metro Transit will provide special service from several park-and-ride lots both before and after the game. Passengers can park free at the following park-and-ride lots: Eastgate, south Bellevue, Kent-Des Moines, Federal Way, Star Lake, Northgate and the Northgate Transit Center. Look for buses marked "To Safeco Field." For departure times from each location, check the Metro Online Web site at http://transit.metrokc.gov/. After the game, buses leave from their designated Safeco Field stops 10 minutes after the end of the game. The last special shuttles leave about 20 minutes after the end of the game. The fare is $2.50 cash only per person each way. No passes or transfers will be issued or accepted, and there are no special or reduced fares. For more information, check out Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov/ or call the Rider Information Office at (206) 553-3000. This match marks only the second time in 25 years that the U.S. Men’s Team has played in Seattle. Leading the 2002 squad is goalkeeper Kasey Keller, a native of Lacey. |
