News ReleaseRelease date: Nov. 30, 2001 King County set to begin intersection improvements on 124th Avenue S.E. and S.E. 304th StreetThe King County Road Services Division is advising residents and motorists that a project to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection of 124th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 304th Street in the Lea Hill area will begin next week. The county plans to install a traffic signal to replace all-way stop flashers at the busy intersection. The package of improvements also includes some paving work and construction of curbs and sidewalks around the intersection to enhance safety for pedestrians. The project, expected to cost about $100,000, will be completed in four to eight weeks depending on weather conditions. These improvements respond to requests from Lea Hill residents who have voiced concern about traffic problems at the intersection. During the construction period, motorists may encounter periodic traffic delays when lane restrictions are needed to accommodate work. To minimize delays, flaggers will be stationed at the intersection during daylight hours to keep traffic moving. The work is not expected to require full closures. |
