Green River Gorge Bridge has reopened

The King County Road Services Division reopened the Green River Gorge Bridge located east of Black Diamond at noon today (Wednesday, Oct. 31). The bridge, located east of Black Diamond, has been closed since June for cleaning, painting and removal of lead paint. The bridge is located on Southeast Green River Gorge Road where it crosses the Green River.

The closure was necessary to remove and contain the existing lead paint and repaint the steel elements of the bridge to protect it from rusting. This work will significantly increase its useful life. The Road Services Division painted the bridge as part of its countywide bridge painting project.
