News ReleaseRelease date: Oct. 8, 2001 Metro continues Mariners service into post-seasonMetro Transit and the Seattle Mariners are a winning combination that will transport fans into an exciting post-season of baseball. As the Mariners head into the American League playoffs -- and hopefully the World Series -- here are a few reminders about transit service to and from Safeco Field. There are more than 30 bus routes that travel to or close by Safeco Field. Most are provided by Metro, but service is also available on Sound Transit, Pierce Transit and Community Transit. For Mariners post-season games on weekdays, ride regularly scheduled service to the ballpark. Visit Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov/ for schedules and park-and-ride information. Regular Metro fares are in effect on all regularly scheduled service. Mariner Special Service is available after weekday games that begin at 5 p.m. or later. Special post-game service to selected park-and-ride lots is provided from only designated Safeco Field stops and requires payment of a $2.50 fare. The last Mariners Specials leave about 20 minutes after the end of the game. Visit http://transit.metrokc.gov/bus/bulletins/mariners-service.html for more information on Mariner Special Service, or call Rider Information at (206) 553-3000. Riders should be aware that security at Safeco Field has been increased for the post-season. No backpacks or large bags will be allowed. Fans with bags must return them to their vehicles. The Mariners will not issue claim checks for bags at the gate, and any bag left unattended will be disposed of. Diaper bags and purses will be allowed but will be subject to search. On-street parking will be restricted within 100 feet of the ballpark. If you are riding Metro to the game, please plan accordingly. There are no facilities for storing restricted items. |
