Orillia Road rehabilitation project begins June 4

The King County Road Services Division will begin a major rehabilitation effort that will require the closure of a half-mile stretch of Orillia Road South between South 200th Street and 42nd Avenue South beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, June 4. The construction work is expected to take an estimated eight weeks to complete.

During the construction period, crews will completely rebuild the four-lane roadway, add sidewalks and install a new underground drainage system. The rehabilitation is necessary to correct severe deterioration that has occurred over the years. The project will also improve safety along the busy roadway. While construction is slated to continue through July 29, the county and contractor have developed an aggressive work schedule and incentive program that may allow the project to be completed earlier. The project is expected to cost an estimated $800,000.
