News ReleaseRelease date: March 6, 2001 Metro Transit Proposing Changes for Renton Local Bus ServiceMetro Transit is proposing to revise service in Renton to provide new service on Route 105 in the Renton Highlands, reduce and revise service on Dial-a-Ride Transit van routes 908 and 909, and improve evening service in most Renton neighborhoods. The proposals also respond to requests from Kennydale residents to reduce the impact of large buses on neighborhood streets. If approved, the proposed revisions would take effect Sept. 29, 2001. Metro Transit will hold a community meeting on Thursday, March 8th, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., at Renton Technical College to gather feedback from residents on the proposals. The meeting will be held at the Renton Technical College cafeteria (Building I, lower level), 3000 N.E. Fourth St., Renton. Metro routes 105 and 909 serve this site. Metro mailed a brochure and questionnaire about the proposals to households and businesses in Renton in late February. The brochure and questionnaire are posted on Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov/. To request a copy of the brochure or get information about the community meeting, the public also can call (206) 684-1955 (voice) or (206) 684-1682 (TTY). Public comments and questionnaire responses will be reviewed by Metro Transit as it develops recommendations for service changes for routes 105, 908 and 909 in March. The County Council is scheduled to take action in April or May on the County Executive’s recommendations. |
