King County Schedules Open House to Discuss Replacement of Cedar Mountain Bridge

The King County Road Services Division will hold an open house from 5PM - 7PM, Tuesday, March 6th at the Renton Assembly of God Church to familiarize residents with plans to replace the aging Cedar Mountain Bridge on Southeast Jones Road.

The county plans to remove the 52-year-old bridge located just east of SR-169 and replace it with a precast concrete bridge. The new two-lane bridge will be wider than the current structure and will include a left-turn lane and 8-foot shoulders to better accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. The county also plans to replace Cedar Mountain Place Southeast, an aging timber ramp serving a group of nearby residences. That structure will be replaced with a new access road to better serve the adjacent property owners. Construction is expected to begin this fall and will take about a year and one-half to complete. The road will remain open to traffic while construction is underway, with only two temporary closures anticipated early in the period. The project is expected to cost an estimated $4 million.

During the open house, residents will have an opportunity to view displays and talk with engineers about the upcoming project. Renton Assembly of God Church is located at the intersection of SR-169 and 152nd Avenue Southeast in Renton. For more information about the open house, contact Kelly Lindsey at (206) 263-4529 or e-mail her at kelly.lindsey@metrokc.gov.
