King County to hold open house to present Fall City traffic safety improvements

The King County Road Services Division will hold an open house from 7PM - 9PM, Thursday, March 16th at Chief Kanim Middle School to familiarize residents with a series of recommendations to improve pedestrian, traffic and bicycle safety in the Fall City area.

This meeting is a follow-up to a community workshop held in November to identify a variety of pedestrian and safety needs in Fall City. At that workshop, residents were asked to identify specific locations in their community where they think safety improvements might be needed. A citizen advisory committee and the county have now reviewed those comments and developed a series of preliminary recommendations.

During the open house, residents will have an opportunity to review the short and long-term traffic and pedestrian recommendations and share their comments. Projects ultimately identified by the community will then be eligible for funding, as it becomes available. The county currently has $250,000 available for pedestrian and safety improvements in the Fall City area. A similar Neighborhood Enhancement Program to identify safety and pedestrian needs is underway in the Preston area.

The open house will be held in the Chief Kanim Middle School commons, located at 32627 Southeast Redmond-Fall City Road. For more information about the workshop, contact Mary Coltrane by telephone at (206) 296-3724 or by e-mail at mary.coltrane@metrokc.gov.
