TRAFFIC ADVISORY
The King County Road Services Division will close a three-block stretch of 140th Avenue Northeast just north of Northeast 124th Street from 7PM, Friday, May 21st through 6PM, Sunday, May 23rd. During the closure, crews will reconstruct the section of road as part of a larger project to widen the intersection of Northeast 124th Street and Willows Road. While the closure will be limited to the weekend, traffic disruptions are expected to continue into the early part of the week. Motorists are being advised to take alternate routes during the construction period.
The county will also close Northeast 124th Street between Willows Road and 154th Place Northeast during the same period for seismic retrofit work on the Sammamish River Bridge. This project will allow the bridge to better withstand earthquakes. Motorists should use Northeast 116th Street as their primary detour route.
The road and bridge construction has been scheduled for the same weekend to allow crews to complete work more quickly in an effort to minimize traffic disruptions.
