King County to Highlight Upcoming Transportation Improvements in North Soos Creek

Residents in the North Soos Creek area will get a first hand look at the range of transportation improvements being planned for their community during an open house on Tuesday, March 23rd. The meeting, sponsored by the King County Department of Transportation, will be held from 5PM - 8:30PM, Tuesday, March 23rd at Lindbergh High School.

"The menu of improvements we've identified reflects our ongoing work with the North Soos Creek community to address a variety of transportation needs ranging from projects that reduce congestion to creating a safer environment for those who walk or ride their bike," King County Executive Ron Sims said. "During this open house, residents will have an opportunity to learn more about improvements that have already been made and what's being planned for the future to improve mobility in their area."

Over the past several months, more than 20 transportation projects and services have been targeted for the North Soos Creek area - seven of which have already been completed. Improvements already made or are currently underway include road widening, the addition of school pathways and devices aimed at reducing speeding in neighborhoods. The estimated cost of projects proposed for the North Soos Creek area is $ 41.8 million.

During the open house, residents will have an opportunity to talk with transportation staff about current and upcoming improvements being planned for their community. They will also be invited to share their ideas on the types of future improvements that should be considered.

The open house will be held in the cafeteria of Lindbergh High School, located at 16426 128th Avenue Southeast. For more information about the meeting, contact Bonnie Nygren by telephone at (206) 689-4742 or by e-mail at bonnie.nygren@metrokc.gov.
