Executive Ron Sims statement on the roads and transit ballot measure vote
People want immediate congestion relief and to reduce their impact on global warming, and they want to do it without substantial tax increases. We must listen to voters and be sensitive to what they are saying. I know the governor is planning to pull leaders together quickly to look at next steps, and I applaud her for her leadership. It is clear to all of us that the Highway 520 bridge is a priority, and it must be replaced. A strong transportation system is essential to our economic vitality, and I am confident we will succeed in finding the right solutions by working together.
