Media advisory: Regional partners roll out new plans for storm response
It’s been an early start to the 2007-08 storm season, and four of the region’s largest agencies are ready to roll out new response plans before the next storm hits. These new coordinated plans are designed to improve safety when the wind blows, the rivers overflow, or the region ices up.
The annual “Take Winter By Storm” campaign will be kicked off:
Tuesday, Oct. 30
10:30 a.m.
Seattle City Hall - Bertha Knight Landes Room
(enter from Fifth Avenue & James Street)
Participating agencies include the city of Seattle, King County, Washington State Department of Transportation, and Puget Sound Energy (PSE). These organizations, together with partner agencies from throughout the region, are improving storm response on several fronts based on lessons learned from last year’s turbulent winter.
Information will also be available at the event on what individuals can do to be prepared for wind, rain, snow, ice and other natural disasters. Speakers at the event will include: King County Executive Ron Sims; WSDOT NW Regional Administrator Lorena Eng; Seattle Director of Emergency Management Barb Graff; and PSE Manager of Operations Continuity Mary Robinson.
