Involved in a variety of activities, they are making a positive impact without expecting anything in return. As they share their many talents, enthusiasm and passion to provide opportunities for others to succeed, they are also demonstrating to their peers and the younger generation the positive benefits of giving back to the community. The honorees include:

  • Gloria Lee. Known to many as the mother of Korean immigrant history, Gloria published a book on this subject with all proceeds donated to the Korean Community Counseling Center’s Capital Project.
  • Shari Song. A real estate professional and business owner, Shari shares her time and talents with the Korean American Professionals Society, Korean American Voters Alliance and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce.
  • Susan Lee. Susan helped establish the Korean Women Realtor’s Association of Washington. Susan also participates in fundraisers to provide shelter and meals for the homeless.
  • Franklin Yi. Franklin is a founding member of the Washington State Korean Chamber of Commerce and the Washington State Drycleaner’s Association. Franklin also volunteers with Rainbow Acres, an organization that serves children living with severe disabilities.
  • Kenny Lee. A business owner, Kenny has been involved with a variety of organizations including the International Trade Association, Federal Way Korean American Leaders and the Federal Way Downtown Revitalization Committee.
“As King County Executive, I am extremely proud to know that there are caring and concerned individuals, like Gloria, Shari, Kenny, Franklin and Susan, who are engaged in building the fabric and foundation of our community,” said Sims. “King County is fortunate to have them in our midst. They are individuals who continue to support and serve our community in extraordinary ways.”
