Dear neighbor,

Kenmore needs leadership that supports: • A healthy level of growth while protecting and enhancing the quality of life. • Greater infrastructure improvements to be completed in a much more timely and cost efficient manner. • Increased accountability for the use of our tax dollars to ensure wise and responsible spending. We need a city budget that maintains an operating surplus. Since 2005, expenses have increased at a rate 8.5 times higher than revenues.

We need a commitment to prudent stewardship on our watch. I pledge to uphold the values of conserving our resources while allowing the city to grow and diversify.

I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where I worked as an electronic technician. I currently work as a software professional at Cray, Inc. and I have 13 years experience as a technical communicator.

My vision is of a thriving and vibrant Kenmore community. I truly appreciate your vote.

Bob Black -

Photo of Bob Black Statement:

Bob’s platform is simple: Respect the citizen’s needs and respond to their concerns with action not just talk. The issues facing Kenmore today are a failing infrastructure, lack of citizen safety measures and needing to improve public recreational areas.

For too long Kenmore citizens have been told what the laws are going to be with no real voice. This must change in order to move forward.

We need to develop a city core without destroying the community and businesses that have made Kenmore viable. This must be done without cloning another city within Kenmore.

Bob is a blue jeans kind of guy with many real life experiences dealing with government.

Bob has lived in the King county area for 58 years and in Kenmore for 18 years with his wife and their two sons.

Bob is the right choice for Kenmore and will respect your vote.

Occupation:Kenmore City councilmember, paraeducator Kenmore Jr. High, publisher Kenmore Blog.net
Education:Certificate of Municipal Leadership 2009, A.A. in Respiratory Therapy, Lane Community College, Eugene, Oregon
Photo of Laurie Sperry Statement:

Kenmore is on the verge of having a vibrant downtown. We’re getting a new fire station, library, city hall, and downtown center. I’m seeking reelection to continue my efforts to revitalize our city in an affordable, environmentally friendly manner.

On the council, I’ve worked hard to preserve Kenmore’s environment and quality of life by improving parks, trails and open space and protecting the character of our single family neighborhoods through height and infill restrictions. I’ve encouraged citizen communication through a new city website, publishing a blog, and meeting with citizens. I’m committed to Kenmore’s continued economic health and prosperity by being fiscally responsible and attracting new stores and businesses to the city.

I serve as Kenmore’s representative on the WRI8 Salmon Recovery Council, Northshore Parks and Recreation Service Area, and Kenmore Library Advisory Board.

Our city is important to us all. Let’s keep moving forward toward a better Kenmore.
