![]() Sep. 5, 2007 King County Elections certifies August primaryKing County Elections today certified the August 21 primary results in all 55 races and ballot measures countywide. This marked the first time the primary was held in August, a month earlier than previous years. As a result, turnout was lower than projected, with just 25 percent of registered voters participating in the election and most opting to cast their ballot by mail. Certified results are now available online at http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200708/results.asp. Election results summary:
Elections staff performed new and more rigorous audits in the August primary to examine ballot tabulation equipment before, during and after the ballot counting process. Until now, audits were performed before equipment was used and daily while counting absentee ballots. Audits included logic and accuracy tests performed prior to Election Day, daily software tests, and mid- and post-election logic and accuracy tests which indicated the equipment worked flawlessly, had not been tampered with, and that all security precautions and procedures were followed. King County's post-election audit of four percent of accessible voting units (or electronic voting equipment) used on Election Day resulted in a perfect match between the electronic vote totals and the totals from the paper audit trail. To date, all manual post election audits of King County's accessible tabulation equipment have been 100 percent accurate. Unlike many other jurisdictions nationwide, King County requires a paper audit trail of electronic votes to further enhance ballot integrity and security. Upcoming election dates
