The King County Elections tabulation team's final numbers for the day show 21,596 ballots counted, which represents all ballots on hand ready to be tabulated.
Election results summary:
-
21,596 absentee ballots tabulated today
-
392,820 absentee ballots tabulated to date
-
179,558 poll ballots tabulated to date (does not include provisional ballots)
King County has 13,000 provisional ballots on hand and expects to tabulate those ballots that have been verified starting on Monday. View results for the election at: http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200611/results.asp
The Canvassing Board also met again today to decide whether several bundles of ballots that did not fit into standard transport bags should be accepted into the ballot verification process. The bundles of ballots in clear and colored plastic bags were turned in to the Elections Depots by sworn poll workers on election night.
Canvassing Board Members County Councilmember Julia Patterson, Prosecuting Attorney's Office Chief of Staff Dan Satterberg, and Interim Director of Records and Elections and Licensing Services Division Jim Buck, unanimously agreed on the following:
1 – Regarding flood ballots: the Board accepted several flood ballots into the verification process because the Board determined they were voted in timely manner.
About a dozen flood ballots were put on hold pending receipt of the original or verification of flooding in the voter’s area.
2 - Regarding the approx. 74 bags with missing seals or non-matching seal numbers signed by two poll workers that moved forward into the signature verification and tabulation process: these are being verified and processed
3 - Regarding the approx. 9 bags of ballots returned wrapped in plastic bags without an appropriate transmittal form or seal: these were found to have been in proper election staff or sheriff’s deputy custody the entire time. The Board ruled they could move forward into verification and processing.
4 - Regarding the approx. 34 bags with missing information and one bag returned by a poll worker the day after the election: research is still underway.
